Glencoe, MN – The Glencoe Historic Preservation Society (GHPS) is proud to announce the release of its new history book, The History of Glencoe 1855 - 1975: From Immigrant Settlement to Agricultural Settlement. This comprehensive volume has been meticulously crafted by the History Book Team, a dedicated subcommittee of GHPS, to capture the rich history and transformation of Glencoe over the past 120 years.
Spanning the period from the early days of immigrant settlement to the thriving agricultural community it is today, this book provides a fascinating look into the lives of early residents, their challenges and triumphs, and how their efforts shaped the legacy of Glencoe. Featuring historical photographs, personal stories, and detailed accounts, The History of Glencoe not only commemorates the past but also serves as an invaluable resource for future generations.
“This book is a labor of love for our community,” said the History Book Team. “We wanted to honor the incredible stories of Glencoe’s founders and residents while also providing insight into how their experiences contributed to the town’s development. We believe this book will resonate with residents, historians, and anyone interested in the rich tapestry of Glencoe’s history”.
The book sale will be officially launched at a community event on November 23, 2024 from 1-4 PM and December 7, 2024 from 10 AM-2 PM at the Glencoe City Center History Room. The event will feature a presentation of the book by members of the History Book Team, and the opportunity for attendees to meet the authors and learn more about Glencoe’s history. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
In addition to being an essential addition to local libraries and educational institutions, The History of Glencoe 1855 - 1975 can also be purchased online at glencoehistorybook.com. Proceeds from the book sales will support ongoing preservation efforts.
The books will also be aailable for sale at the Glencoe City Center Office window during business hours.
